Be a part of the best sport EVER!

Ready to give roller derby a whirl? Join our Protostars programme!
This programme is a beginners entry point to joining Auld Reekie Roller Derby. If you have previous experience with another Roller Derby club, please email coaches@auldreekierollerderby and we can advise the best pathway or you.
Protostars Programme – Beginners Level
This 12-week programme consists of weekly 1.5hour sessions where you will be on skates and learning with our experienced coaches.
During the programme you will learn about the fundamentals of skating, including how to stop, change direction and get comfortable skating in proximity to other people. You will also learn roller derby moves and skills, including an introduction to the full-contact elements of the sport, in a safe and controlled environment.
Plus additional off-skates learning to guide you through your roller derby orientation, the rules of the game, and the basics of officiating so you can choose your pathway into the sport.
We accept anyone from absolute beginners, to those who have skated a lot before – you just have to be over the age of 18.
Gender Statement
We actively welcome and encourage any individual of a Marginalised Gender to skate with us, in alignment with the WFTDA Statement on Gender. All genders are welcome to officiate and participate in non-skating roles.
When can I start?
The new programme will begin on Wednesday 25th March and finish on Wednesday 10th June. It will take place at Galleon Sports Centre from 8pm to 9.30pm.
